SOFT POWER

Hi, my name is Sulai. I’m a interdisciplinary “lifer” artist obsessed with beauty and softening the sharp edges. I work with a variety of mediums including old rags, indigo, paint, wool, paper, found objects, “trash”, and performance. I’m a weaver, thrifter, upcycler, teacher, spinster, and natural dyer. I hope my work creates an environment where vulnerability can thrive and people can connect with themselves and each other and me. I also hope it inspires the viewer to reflect on the fabric in and of their lives.
